AGRA IN THE MIDST OF WINTER

Its necessary to take breaks in your life. Its necessary to look around you and appreciate the things around you. Its necessary to spend time with your loved ones especially with your family. As a teenager i might have acted as a rebel but right now when everything starts to seem a little clear and the memories blurry it seems that their is no one that would look forward to you more than your family.

As a 12th grade student studying continuously, thinking only about equation and dates to remember i forgot about anything that brings me joy. Agra was always in my bucket list since i came to Delhi. To watch one of the seven wonders that we always use to read about in our EVS book.

The plan was sudden, in the midst of my extra class we went for a 2 day trip to Agra. Hoping in the newly made Vande Bharat express at around 6 o clock in the chilly morning of New Delhi we started our trip, and rather than watching the beautiful sunrise from the window seat i stole from my brother i slept the whole way to Agra. When i woke up i found myself in Agra and we disembarked from the train.

We usually don't have breakfast this early in Delhi, but we decided to make an exception in Agra. Why? Because there was so much to explore, so many sights to see, and countless experiences waiting for us in this vibrant new city. The Agra Cantt. railway station is a bustling hub, filled with auto drivers and taxi drivers vying for attention all around you. For us, they represent a gateway to understanding a new place and meeting interesting people, but to them, we might just be another fare—a source of income. It’s funny how our definitions shift based on the person in front of us: to my mom, I’m her daughter; to my brother, I’m his sister; to my teachers, I’m just another student; and to all those taxi drivers, I’m simply a customer.

Anyway, we grabbed breakfast at the railway station, which was pretty bland, but the chai? Oh man, that made it special! There’s something about that first sip of chai in a new city that just hits differently. Before long, we hopped into an auto rickshaw, and after a bit of searching, we found an affordable hotel to crash at. Once we freshened up, we were all set to dive into the adventure that is Agra!
